Blog milestone: 100 followers!

I received a notification from WordPress yesterday that I’ve Bean Travelling has now surpassed 100 follows, including a combination of WordPress reader, email, and social media subscribers.

This blog was started on a whim as an inside joke between myself and Mr. Chuckles, but has since transformed into my creative outlet in a small corner of the internet. It’s been great to have a place to document all of our adventures around the world (and now in the kitchen), which we can refer back to when our memories begin to fade.

Here’s a recap of a few blog stats from this year.

Most popular travel post

Exploring my backyard: Toronto, Canada. Interestingly, my most liked and viewed post is not really about a place where I’ve travelled, but just my home city. Goes to show that it’s often best to write what you know.

Most popular recipe post

Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Everybody loves cake! I’m still waiting on my bonus from Cuisinart for plugging their food processor. 😉

Longest post

Surviving the Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. At 1747 words, the recap of my rough experience on the Inca Trail is the lengthiest post on this blog. This was one of my most memorable and challenging travel experiences, so I had to get it all down in writing.

Shortest post

Heirloom tomato and prosciutto salad. This simple yet delicious recipe did not require very many words to explain, only 233 to be exact.

Top commenter

One of my first followers was The Travel Architect, who, according to WordPress stats, remains my most engaged reader. She runs an incredibly well written, entertaining travel blog which I always look forward to reading, so get over there and check it out.

What’s next?

My next travel experience won’t be happening until February 2020 when we head off to Cambodia and Vietnam, so the upcoming couple months will probably be occupied by food blogging in Mr. Chuckles’ Cooking Corner.

In the meantime, I’d like to extend my thanks to all of you who have been following along, and giving me an audience for this little project.

Happy blogging!

Second of all, thank you so much for the shout-out! I love visiting your corner of the Internet. It’s exciting to read about your travels (and cooking experiments) and I’m eager to see how our Cambodia visits compare. I also have it on my list to try making that Gateau Breton. It looks amazing!!
