Wow — long time no blog, folks! I haven’t been around on WordPress since December 2022 but I’m back now with a travel update. For our spring vacation, Mr. Chuckles and I will be heading off to Europe. More specifically, we are spending a couple weeks in Barcelona, San Sebastián, Paris, and London!
I will continue with my new routine of posting trip updates once we return, so the next time you’ll hear from me is probably at the end of April.
So far, this is what our itinerary looks like:
Day 1
Arrival in Barcelona, Spain. We will be staying in the Gothic Quarter and plan to take it easy on our first day, possibly with a visit to Casa Batlló and La Sagrada Familia.
Day 2
Tastes & Traditions of Barcelona food tour in the morning. Afternoon at the Picasso Museum.
Day 3
Park Guell and Mount Tibidabo.
Day 4
Flight to Bilbao and then transfer to San Sebastián, Spain. Explore Old Town. Evening pintxos food tour.
Day 5
Explore the sights in San Sebastián including Miramar Royal Palace and Mont Igueldo, and eat lots.
Day 6
Take a walk along Paseo Nuevo and check out Castillo de la Mota castle.
Day 7
Day trip to Pamplona.
Day 8
Flight to Paris, France. Evening food tour in Le Marais. Go up the Eiffel Tower at night (the only time I could find tickets!).
Day 9
Seine River cruise in the morning. Explore Montmartre in the afternoon. Evening at Moulin Rouge.
Day 10
Day trip to Versailles.
Day 11
Day trip to Giverny to visit Monet’s House.
Day 12
Musee de Louvre in the morning. Late afternoon Eurostar train to London, England.
Day 13
We tried to procure tickets to an Arsenal match but were unsuccessful. This will probably be a free day wandering around London to see a few places we missed on our last trip. The only thing we have planned for certain is a meal at Dishoom.
Day 14
Return to Toronto.
Hopefully we will not face too many major inconveniences with the protests and strikes happening in Paris, but the trip is going ahead either way. I’ve tried not to over schedule this one so we have lots of time to relax and modify our plans ad hoc. I’d love to hear your suggestions on anything to add to the itinerary!
As for travel plans for the remainder of 2023, we will be going to Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake in May. Following this, it will be a homebody final half of the year as we will be preparing to welcome a little person 👶 into our family in September! Travel will look different for us in 2024 but I am committed to passing on my wanderlust so we will definitely be getting back out there once we are a bit more settled.
