My travel distraction: Gizmo the Shih Tzu

Hi folks. I’ve been neglecting my travel/food blog and social media lately. This is why.

Last week, we welcomed home our little Shih Tzu puppy, named Gizmo after the mogwai in the movie Gremlins. Gizmo loves to cuddle, bite at my feet, and sleep 18 hours per day. I’m pretty sure she knows her name, although only answers me when she feels like it. She is a picky eater but loves to play with her blueberries. She’s gone on three “walks” which were mostly spent with her plopped on the ground. Next week we will be starting puppy socialization classes, where I hope she will get inspired to be a bit more active.

You can now follow our adventures on Instagram!

    1. Nope, no lessons necessary for being cute but she could do with some training to stop biting! 😛

  6. I’m crying with cuteness overload inside. At first, I couldn’t tell the difference between the stuffed animal and actual animal in the first photo, haha! Your puppy sure knows how to blend in!

    1. That Snuggle Pup toy is bigger than Gizmo, it’s so funny to see her playing with it.

  7. Gizmo looks like a small best buddy who can join you on the couch for cuddles, Jess 🙂 Shih Tzus are affectionate, happy, outgoing house dogs who love nothing more than to follow their people from room to room, and as long as I remember, I always wanted to have one by my side, too. Maybe one day 🙂 Aiva xxx

    1. She is certainly very cuddly and a “velcro dog” who follows me everywhere. Apparently they are great with children too, a good choice for your family if you ever decide to welcome home a pup!

  12. Adorable and a very good reason to neglect the blog. I bet you’re much busier now than before you got her. What will you do with her when you can finally get back to traveling?

    1. My sister is very eager to pet sit so we will probably leave Gizmo with her when we get back to travelling. She is a handful but she’s so sweet and getting smarter everyday. 🙂 And funny enough, yesterday at the park somebody thought that she was a bunny because she was hopping all over the place.
