The first task on my decorating mission was our fireplace mantle. The felt garland, wooden Mrs. Clause and elf, and small ceramic trees are all from Chapters. The dried bouquets are from Homesense and my favourite local florist Euclid Farms.
The Christmas prints were a new addition this year, from Samantha Ann and Co. on Etsy.
Our stockings were purchased a couple years ago from Kitchen Stuff Plus, with the exception of Gizmo’s knit dog stocking from Chapters. The personalized calligraphy name tags are from Samantha Ann and Co.
Our fireplace is actually non-functional, so we use the hearth as a candle holder and space for the Advent calendar from another local favourite — chocolatier Soma.
Moving onto the rest of our home, I found this artificial wreath back in November at our neighbourhood holiday market, made by Keepsake Studio Shop.
A few other knickknacks for our entryway console table and around the home were found at Dollarama. The Grinch tree fashioned from a Lemon Cypress is from Euclid Farms, alongside ceramic Christmas village houses from Kitchen Stuff Plus.
Finally, the masterpiece: our Christmas tree. It’s an artificial one from Oncor Trees, which are made from 100% recycled PVC plastic. This was our first full sized tree and has served us well for the past couple years; it packs up very compactly in a small box. I’ve amassed a sizeable collection of ornaments, including a few that I constructed myself with DIY kits — a couple cross-stitch patterns from Canadian Stitchery and a felt dog (modified into the image of Gizmo) from Homesense.
Here are a few of my favourite new ornaments added to the collection this year. Hopefully next year I’ll be able to add some from our travels!
Wishing you all a joyous holiday season, whether you find yourself at home or away.
