Before we head into the holiday season with its bright hues, we are spending November looking at Black and Grey for this month’s Life in Colour Photo Challenge.
Black is not a colour at all. Theoretically it is the absence of all colour. Yet black is distinctive. Lines are bolder, shadows deeper, colours brighter against a black background.

Another fabulous collection Jess. Thank you!

Great pictures as always. Especially like those of Angkor. I have many black and white pics my Dad took in 1956-58. I think they are more effective than colour.

Thank you! Jude wanted us to avoid black and white photos for this challenge, and focus on natural blacks and greys instead.

Ah, you went to Cuzco, too (I see you visited the stone with 10+ sides to it)! Although dreary, grey is one of my favorite colors/shades; I have a good collection of grey clothing, and it gives off a poised and professional look (perfect for the office).

Love your photo’s of those old buildings and cobbled walkways … one tend to think that black/grey are dark or somber colours, but there’s actually so much life in your pictures!

Yes I noticed that as well, I didn’t realize that I have so many “lively” photos of grey!

Is that apartment building (above the statue of the woman) in Montreal? I could swear I’ve walked past it.

That statue is right outside the Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal, not pictured in that image but it’s across the road from the tall building in the background. That is probably why it looks familiar!
